How To Shop & FAQ

Step-By-Step

  1. Browse thousands of products in any of our stores. You’ll be able to purchase across many Calora stores but will only need to checkout once.
  2. Select the quantity and Click Add To Cart on the items you wish to purchase. You can even add products to your cart over a few days.
  3. When you’re ready to make your purchase, click View Cart or Checkout. Ensure that your Cart contents are correct.
  4. We may show you selected products during your Checkout. Add the ones you like, or click Continue To Checkout to skip.
  5. You’ll be asked to Register with us. Once Registered, continue with Checkout.
  6. On our highly secured pages - Enter your address,(if you are not collecting the order from us), payment details (select Credit Card or EFT) and confirm your order.
  7. DONE! We’ll email your order details and notify you once the package has left our warehouse.

Who is Calora?

Calora started out as Calora baby and has been around since 2004. Our first online retail Mega-store was launched in June, 2011. We love online shopping and thrive on making our customers feel special (check out our Facebook pages, you’ll see what we mean).

Why are your stores separate and not the usual online all-in-one retail?

Online shopping should not be a Swiss Army Knife. We believe that garden hoses don’t mix well with DVD players. Each Calora Mega-store, is managed by dedicated staff that understand and have a passion for the goods sold in that specialised store. Shopping for your pets? You’ll only see offerings, promotions & products that are pet related. Then, hop over to any other Calora Mega-store for a brand new dedicated shopping experience. When you’re done with all your shopping, simply checkout from any store. All your selected product will be in one cart, & one checkout, account, order & delivery.

Why should I buy online?

  • Convenience – Where can you shop in your pyjamas, sipping a cup of Tea at any time, day or night, no queues, then have your purchase delivered to your door? Online of course!
  • Range – Thousands & thousands of products, many which are exclusive to Calora Shopping.
  • Prices – Generally, our prices are the lowest in SA (especially when comparing a basket of goods). Check out our ongoing specials in each store.
  • Content – Read reviews and comprehensive product descriptions, watch videos, loads of images and so much more, before making a purchase.

Is it true that your shipping times are much quicker than anywhere else?

Generally speaking, yes. Most online stores only stock their fast moving items. Calora on the other hand, stocks most products, allowing us to ship the same day (on orders that are placed by 2pm).

When will my order arrive?

That depends on what you ordered and where you live. Most products are available to ship out immediately, but others need to be sourced which can take a few extra days (each product page shows its shipping time). Transit times are anywhere from same day delivery and up to 3 days. See our Shipping page for more information.

I’m not happy with my purchase, can I return it?

Yes (depending on what and when you purchased). Please see our Returns page for more information.

You don’t have what I’m looking for...

Contact us with information about the item and we’ll try to source it for you. Alternatively (a much quicker process) please ask the supplier to apply for a listing on Calora Shopping.

Why are many products Sold Out?

Calora Shopping works differently than other online stores. We prefer not to sell an item if it’s not in our warehouse ready to go, rather than allow customers to order it, only to be disappointed later when the supplier is out of stock or the item has been discontinued. We work in the same way as physical stores – if it’s not on the shelf, it’s not available for purchase.

Generally, we’re unable to estimate the date that the item will be restocked. We are however adding a feature which will allow customers to request a notification when the item is back in stock.

How do I send someone a gift?

  • Purchase a Gift certificate and we’ll email it to them on your behalf. They’ll be able to spend in any of our stores.
  • Send them a gift – select the item/s and enter their shipping address and your own billing details during the checkout process.

What’s a wishlist for?

A wishlist is simply a list where you store all your favourite products. You may only want to purchase it at a later date, or even keep items in there which you need on a regular basis, as a reminder. You can also add Sold Out products to your wishlist and revisit the item page at a later time.

Is there a warranty on the products I purchase?

Yes – on most products with exception to consumables and other restricted items. See our Warranty page for more information.

How do I redeem a gift certificate?

Proceed with your shopping as usual. During the checkout process, we’ll ask you if you have a voucher or coupon. Enter (best to copy/paste) the gift certificate’s code and we’ll deduct the purchase value off the certificate’s credit balance. You may use your certificate multiple times, until your balance is depleted.

What are your accepted forms of payments?

  • EFT & Bank Deposit – please note that it may take up to 3 days to process.
  • Credit Cards – For security reasons, we may contact you to verify your purchase.

If you have chosen to collect your order instead of having it couriered to you, you can pay cash on collection. However, we do not accept cheques.

Where do you ship to?

Currently, anywhere in South Africa (including remote areas). Other African countries are planned in the near future.

I need my order urgently, can I arrange collection?

Yes, Calora Shopping offers a collection service for Gauteng customers. When placing your order, select 'I will collect' as the delivery method. Your order will be prepared and ready for collection 30 minutes after you have completed the order process, from our Sandton-based warehouse. We will hold the order for you for a maximum of a week.
